Parking in LA is About to Get Easier!

Featured

Think of the last time you parked downtown…

Are you reminded of circling the block endlessly, looking for a spot that never seemed to materialize? This kind of “cruising” is not only frustrating, but also increases congestion, not to mention the excessive fuel consumption, emissions and disruption of other services like buses, fire trucks and ambulances.

Put those thoughts out of your mind. Beginning May 21, 2012, Los Angeles introduced LA Express Park, a new service that uses real-time technology to make parking in LA fast, easy and smart.

Find Parking More Quickly
Find a parking space by downloading one of the supported apps to your smartphone, look for an LA Express Park message sign with this logo, or go online at laexpresspark.org

Rates Change Based Upon Demand
By changing the price of parking based upon demand, more
parking spaces become open and reduce cruising.

New Parking Meter Rates in Hollywood

LA Express Park™, the City of Los Angeles’ intelligent parking management program, is updating the hourly meter rates in Hollywood to improve the parking availability and reduce congestion in the neighborhood.

On average, the rates will go down in the morning and will go up for the rest of the day. The current average overall hourly rate in Hollywood area is $1.62 per hour. With the rate change, this will increase by $0.23 to $1.85 per hour. For the morning, the average rate is expected to decrease from $1.33 to $1.14 per hour. For the rest of the day, the average rate will increase from $1.69 to $2.03 per hour. These new rates will go into effect on August 12, 2019.

Please pay attention to the parking signs on the block where you will be parking as the end of enforcement hours on Friday and Saturday in Hollywood extends to midnight on some of the meters.

Here in Hollywood, you can also pay for parking using an app on your phone! For multi-space pay stations (meters where you have to enter your space number), you can use ParkMobile to pay. For single-space meters, you can use ParkSmarter.

Parking meters with time-of-day rates have different hourly rates matching the parking demand during each time interval. All parking meter and pay station screens will display the current rate and the maximum time allowed for parking for every meter space depending on the time-of-day. Meters and pay stations will be equipped to calculate the applicable rates for you if your parking period spans different rate periods.

Also remember that LA Express Park expanded to the Venice neighborhood on July 22nd. More information can be found by clicking here.

LA Express Park is Now in Venice!

LA Express Park™, the City of Los Angeles’ intelligent parking management program, is expanding to the Venice neighborhood. Using occupancy data gathered from wireless sensors, the City now has a better understanding of the parking demand in the area to adjust rates base on the parking utilization for each block. The overall goal of the program is to improve parking availability and reduce the amount of time motorists circle around looking for parking. This will reduce traffic congestion and pollution in the City.

Based on the demand trends, we are establishing different rates for two periods of the day: 8AM to 10AM and 10AM until 6PM. A handful of areas will have special hourly rates. On average, the rates will go down in the morning and will go up for the rest of the day. The current average overall hourly rate in Venice area is $1.69 per hour. With the rate change, this will increase by $0.30 to $1.99 per hour. For the morning, the average rate is expected to decrease from $1.70 to $1.44 per hour. For the rest of the day, the average rate will increase from $1.69 to $2.13 per hour. These new rates will go into effect on July 22nd, 2019.

Rate maps showing the hourly rates during each period can be downloaded from www.LAExpressPark.org. On the website, you will also find a real-time parking map and links to smartphone apps that help you find current rates and available parking. Please explore the website to learn more about the LA Express Park™ program and find out how you can “save time, park smarter” in Venice.

Have fun and enjoy all the events, shops, and beaches that Venice has to offer!
